Casa da Baleia is a spacious and beautiful beach villa totaling 268 sq metres and offering a relaxed vibe, perfect for holiday get-togethers with family and friends, just a 10 minutes’ walk from the Atlantic Ocean.
Set within peaceful and secluded grounds, the villa is made up of a couple of traditional cabana-style buildings with beamed ceilings and thatched roofs, sitting atop raised sand dunes planted with lush flowering shrubs, indigenous grasses and shady trees. The property is located within a private domain.
The interiors include many marine elements, as a tribute to nature and the marine world, which are a passion of the owner. Elegant and distinctive, the villa strikes a perfect balance between refinement and raw beauty, creating a serene and welcoming living space. Its light-filled interiors feature some magnificent and aesthetic pieces such as a sperm whale mandible, remarkable tapestries and in the living room, a custom-painted fresco inspired by Cocteau and surrealism.
The property has a smart TV and Wi-Fi is available throughout. Climatization is provided in all the main bedrooms and there is mosquito netting on all windows. There are also several bikes, yoga mats and table tennis available on-site.
Decked pathways run all around the property and between pines, fig and olive trees and an enchanting swimming pool which can be heated on request. Framed by the lush, landscaped garden, the pool deck offers a tranquil spot to relax - whether with a book or some yoga practice, with a glass of chilled regional white wine or for admiring the spectacular sunsets the region is famous for.
There are several beach bars and restaurants located within walking distance and the area is also ideal for exploring by bike; activities include surfing at Pego and Carvalhal beaches or horse riding at “Cavalos na Areia”. The charming village of Carvalhal is just a 10-minutes bike ride away; whilst Comporta with its hippy-chic shops and a wider range of restaurants, is located 11 kms drive away.
Another village to visit is Melides (15 minutes’ drive) which offers a handful of eateries, cafés, artisans’ shops, a charming church square and a market to meander through. Whilst the brand-new boutique hotel designed by Christian Louboutin features both a bar and a restaurant open to the public - a special treat to add to your holiday.
WARNING NOTES: There are some drops from the pool area and decking onto sand or plants, so toddlers need to be supervised.

At a loft level above the kitchen, there is a small en-suite double bedroom (bed size 140×200 cm) with shower bathroom.

Double bedroom (bed size 160×200 cms) and twin bedrooms (2 beds of 90×200 cms) sharing a shower bathroom and each with their own private shaded deck area.

General Booking & Cancellation Terms
- Preference is given to 7-night bookings on a Saturday-to-Saturday basis but it is possible to rent this villa for 4 nights minimum (pro-rated) before 15 June and after 15 September
- Check-in after 16:00 hours & check-out before 10:00 hours
- No parties for more than full capacity, not pets & strictly no smoking indoors (penalty equal to security deposit)
- Extra services are subject to availability and should be booked well in advance especially in high season; no credit cards accepted locally, only cash
- Non-refundable rental deposit of 30% required to reserve the property
- Rental balance due 6 weeks prior to start date of rental, not refundable after this date
- Security deposit of €3,000 to be paid in advance of rental – this amount minus any applicable charges is refundable at the end of the holiday
